I don't like going to bars. I never have. A lot of my friends loved going to see local bands play. I was like, are you nuts. If they're not famous, why should I pay a cover charge?

I was told that I have to see this kid playing guitar at the local sports bar. I asked how old is he? They said 14. How the hell does he play in a bar if he's only 14. It seems he had to leave the bar when the band went on a break. I passed.

A year later my friend and I passed the same kid coming out of a music store. My friend said hey, that's the kid who was playing in the bar that one time. Big deal, I said. No, he just signed a record contract. How does this concern me? I asked. We just passed someone who could be famous. Again, how does this concern me? Arn't you impressed he asked. I don't wish him ill, in fact, I hope he does well, but on the grand scheme of life I could give two s#@s. It doesn't affect my life, and I really don't care to be honest.

The next time I saw the kid, it was on movie screen in Blues Brothers 2000. The kids name was Johnny Lang.

This might have been a great story to tell people if I was prone to be "star struck", but I'm not. Back in 1966 on this day, some star struck people might have a story to tell about the band "The Herd". They formed in L.A. and it consisted of unknown artist Neil Young, Stephen Stills, Richie Furay, Bruce Palmer, and Dewey Martin. They would later change their name to "Buffalo Springfield", you know, for what it's worth.

Then a year later some unknowns debuted on a London stage with Jeff Beck. They were Ron Wood, Aynsley Dunbar, and some singer calling himself Rod Stewart.
