TxDOT announced Friday that a new traffic light will be installed at the intersection of State Highway 195 and Chaparral Road, south of Killeen.

Kenneth Roberts with the department's Waco district said work has already begun, and the signal should be operating by the end of September if the weather cooperates. The project is expected to cost $288,000.

The hope is that a new signal will make things easier for people trying to turn and increase the efficiency of through traffic at the intersection.

Roberts reminded drivers to be careful while driving through the construction area. Be on the lookout for workers and equipment, and be sure to give them a brake. Working out in the summer heat is tough enough without worrying about someone in a rush hitting you, right?
