H-E-B to Require Use of Face Masks in Store
H-E-B has announced plans to follow local ordinances and require the use of face masks at its stores within the Waco city limits.
From the H-E-B Newsroom,
“With the approval of Governor Abbott, many local governments in Texas have issued ordinances that require businesses to adopt Health and Safety plans that require customers to wear masks. H-E-B will follow local ordinances,” “The CDC, State of Texas, and local health officials strongly recommend the use of masks or facial coverings in all public spaces as a proven way to slow the spread of the coronavirus,” H-E-B said.
“H-E-B requires the use of masks or facial coverings by all our Partners and vendors in customer facing and close contact positions. H-E-B requests customers wear masks in all stores. In cities and counties with local Health and Safety Plan ordinances, mask use by customers is required.” “The CDC, State of Texas, and local health officials strongly recommend the use of masks or facial coverings in all public spaces as a proven way to slow the spread of the coronavirus,” H-E-B said.
This follows a proclamation issued by Waco Mayor, Kyle Deaver on Friday ordering all business in the Waco city limits to require their employees and visitors to also wear face masks or face coverings in public spaces.
The City of Hewitt has also issued the same requirements, and the city of Killeen is looking to do the same thing.
Is this the "new norm?" Could be, at least for a while anyway.
According to The Texas Tribune, the State of Texas has reported 10 consecutive days of record-high hospitalizations for coronavirus so we should all be doing our part to slow the spread and keep each other safe. If wearing a mask in public places is the way to do it, I'm in.
