To me, nothing says America more than the American farmer. It is because of their work that store shelves and our stomachs remain full. Now, you can celebrate the American farmer at The Bell County Museum as they host the traveling exhibit “American Farmer” from Aug. 31 through Oct. 19. The photo exhibit examines the everyday lives of farmers throughout the United States and how farming effected Bell County history. There will also be a “Path to the Plate” exhibit provided by Bell County Agrilife Extension.

According to The American Farmer exhibit’s website, the event will feature 45 photographs taken by photographer Paul Mobley. Mobley’s first book, American Farmer: Portraits from the Heartland, was first published in the fall of 2008 by Welcome Books and received the 2009 Western Heritage Award for Best Photography Book from the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.

Mobley’s work is wide ranging. The bio on his website says, “His years of experience photographing everyone from Amy Schumer to Zac Brown, combined with his contagious enthusiasm and willingness to take risks, allow him to approach each shoot with a confidence that leads to a fresh, unique portrait of the subject.”
