One of the faults of bein' American is a bit of blindness as to how people outside our shores picture us. Maybe we'd be even better Americans if we took those other points of view into account, eh? Cos, boy are they reading us wrong. Jus saying. READ ON!

Like the above for instance, a parody in which a trio of lit Mexicans celebrate the Fourth the same way most of us celebrate Cinco De Mayo, by getting most of the facts wrong and using it as an excuse to get blitzed and act the fool. Which, seemingly, is how we Americans seem to celebrate most holidays. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Speaking of activity outside our shores, did you know that folks out there in the great big world have theme parties where they act like old Yankee Sam Bluejeans? It's true!

Be it France or Amsterdam, Italy or Russia, people stock up on the red solo cups, load up platters with yankee hamburgers, whip huge batches of popcorn, put red white and blue everywhere, slip on a basketball throwback jersey and get down to being 'Merican!

So how best to combat these preconceived, misguided perceptions of America and it's citizens? As with many things, I thinks the answer lies at home. Learn up us Americans properly about America before we go out into the world and perpetuate the stereotype.
