Oh No! What Will Replace The Jack In The Box On The Northside Of Killeen?
If you grew up on the north side of Killeen, Texas, you know that the Jack-in-the-Box is practically a staple in that neighborhood.
The Jack-in-the-Box was a safe place for high schoolers to go and hang out after school. Than again, that’s where all the high school fights took place after every football game, but once you made it into your 20s it was the perfect place to go after the club. I don’t care what anybody says - the two tacos for a dollar will always be undefeated in my opinion.
So, when I saw that the Jack location at N. 38th St. and Veterans Memorial was closed, it felt like the end of an era. Sure it's not a locally owned mom and pop kind of place, but you can make good memories just about anywhere, and my friends and I definitely made plenty there.
Now it is more important to keep those memories more than anything now that they have demolished that Jack-in-the-Box. To be honest Killeen, I don’t know if I’m okay with it. That place was a local landmark.
I've spoken with a few of my fellow Killeen residents who loved the place too, and they share my sadness about it being gone. Now we all want answers - if Jack is no longer there, what can we expect to go up now?
WHAT WILL REPLACE THE JACK IN THE BOX?
If you'll remember, they remodeled that particular Jack location about three years ago. It seemed to have been in good shape since then, so it's a shame to see it just get knocked over.
But if we can find a silver lining here, it's that the lot can now be used for a business Killeen's needed for a while.
My vote goes to Waffle House!
I can't tell you how many times I've had people react to a poll or question I've put out there about what should come to Killeen with an emphatic, "Waffle House!". I'm definitely #TeamWaffleHouse, but for now, there's been no word (that I'm aware of, anyway) of what's going to replace this Jack-in-the-Box.
I'll let you know as soon as I hear something concrete.
