Baylor Football Will Kick Off Season One Day Later Than Scheduled
Dave Aranda's debut as the new head football coach for the Baylor Bears will have to wait an extra day.
According to a Baylor Athletics press release, Baylor vs. Ole Miss has moved from Saturday, September 5 to Sunday September 6 at NRG Stadium in Houston and will be featured on ESPN. The 2020 Texas Kickoff will be part of ESPN’s Labor Day weekend opening schedule.
This will be Dave Aranda's first game as the new Baylor Bears head coach and only the second meeting with Ole Miss for the Bears. The first and only other meeting happened in 1975, with the Bears winning 20-10. This will also be the first game for new Ole Miss coach, Lane Kiffin.
ESPN senior vice president of programming and ESPN Events Pete Derzis says,
“ESPN’s Sunday game during kickoff weekend has quickly developed into a strong franchise, we look forward to continuing that success as we feature two head coaches in their inaugural games with two great programs. We want to thank the schools and our Texas Kickoff team for recognizing this unique opportunity.”
