Your K-1017 Song Of the Day: HI-YAH! DEPT.
It was little bit frightening. Those guys were fast as lightning. Alrighty then. It'll take longer to read these words then it did to record "Kung Fu Fighting", which was put down on tape in two takes and ten minutes. And thus a massive hit, originally birthed into existence as a quick toss off B-Side to a song nobody remembers, was unleashed on the world.
Luckily, it slotted right into a seventies pop culture world awash in "Chop Sockey" films, from the philosophical Bruce Lee to the rip your spleen out and autographed it in front of you Sonny Chiba to Jim Kelly in the epic Black Belt Jones, with dojos opening everywhere and even your humble author, off in Okinawa, veying for a green belt and pretty much failing miserably. And this was America's one hit wonder soundtrack to it all. It sold 11 MILLION RECORDS and yes, it even won a damn Grammy.
Quick as lightning, it's your K-1017 Song Of The Day.
