FM 817 Bridge in Belton Reduced to Single Lane Until October, Could Experience Occasional Closures

A bridge often used as a "back way" between Belton and Temple has been reduced to a single lane as crews work to rehabilitate it, and the work is expected to take several months.

Belton authorities announced Thursday that the FM 817 Bridge spanning the Leon River on Waco Road will be undergoing repairs from February 15 to October 10. The bridge, located next to Summer Fun Water Park, will also be closed entirely on some days.

Belton police ask that the public slow down and watch for workers, and to expect significant delays. Waco road is often considered an alternate route, so now you may want to find an alternative to the alternative.
