Voices Carry by Til Tuesday Originally Had a Different Premise [VIDEO]

One song you don't hear much of anymore is from Til Tuesday. Aimee Mann's voice carried "Voices Carry" into the top 10 on the Billboard chart in 1985.  And it was on this day that it went Gold that same year.  Aimee had a "fun" hair style for the time, but the song itself could've been much more controversial.

The video was a popular one on MTV and it featured a woman standing up to here overbearing boyfriend.  But, it's been said that the song was originally meant to be sung by a woman to another woman.  Now the green door was still shut pretty tight in 1985 so the record company asked that they not do that. To keep the record company happy it was changed to be more biblical (i.e.) woman to a man.  Watch the video again and picture what it could have been in 1985.
