Texas Kids Will Now Have to Learn Cursive Writing
Is there not an App for this?
I didn't even know this was a thing. I had no idea they stopped teaching cursive. But, come the Fall of 2019. Kids will have to learn it.
Back in 2017, in case you forgot, or you missed it entirely, the State Board of Education tweaked the requirements for the "English Language Arts and Reading" portion of TEKS.
One of the changes was required cursive classes. Under the Texas Education Code, second graders will be taught the art of cursive. They will have to be able to write complete words, thoughts, and answers legibly in cursive writing, leaving appropriate spaces between words. The key word there is "legibly". I've been writing for 45 years, and I've never been "legible".
The students will be expected to have cursive mastered by 4th grade.
