Temple Man Dies in Head-On Collision in Nebraska
A 40-year-old Temple man was fatally wounded in a head-on crash in Nebraska Thursday morning, the Associated Press reports.
Our partners at News 10 shared the report, which named Roman Romero as the victim. Police say the collision occurred around 8:30 AM Thursday on Nebraska Highway 92 about 2 miles outside of Merna.
Romero was driving a 2002 Dodge pickup west along the highway when it crossed the center line, striking an oncoming Ford pickup driven by 49-year-old Kevin Jenson of Broken Bow.
Romero reportedly died at the scene. Jensen and his twin sons, 19, were pinned in their vehicle by a trailer they'd been hauling that tipped in the crash. One of the teens was able to escape and flag down a passing vehicle.
Jensen and his son were freed from their truck after about three hours and flown to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The Custer County Chief reports that they were rescued by the combined efforts of several volunteer firefighters, employees of a towing company and a construction company, police, and even nearby farmers.
