Temple Firefighters Battle Two Grass Fires Sunday Evening
Firefighters in Bell County have been pretty busy lately. Hot and dry conditions have called for a burn ban in unincorporated areas of the county until August 21st.
Two grass fires broke out Sunday evening. The first was along the 2200 Block of South Pea Ridge Road. About 30 acres of pasture were burned. No structures were caught in the path of the fire. 8 units and 17 personnel came to assist from Central Bell, Moffat, Morgan's Point, Sparta, and Troy to assist fighting the fire. Temple police provided traffic control according to Thomas Pechal with Temple Fire and Rescue. The call came in at 5:03 pm.
According to Thomas Pechal with Temple Fire and Rescue, 8 fire units and 17 personnel came to assist from Central Bell, Moffat, Morgan's Point, Sparta, and Troy to assist fighting the blaze. Temple police provided traffic control.
As crews battled the 30-acre grass fire on South Pea Ridge, a second call came in at 7:03 pm at Old Howard Road and Cedar Creek Road. This fire burned 3 to 5 acres of pasture. Units from Moffat and Troy helped put it out. Temple Fire and Rescue sent 6 units and 11 personnel. Photos of both fires can be seen above.
