You don't know this guy, this John Stewart who is not the guy from the television. He's one of those behind the scenes guys who had his brief moment in the pop music spotlight but spent most of his time in showbiz plugging away as a songwriter. He was a member of the very square Kingston Trio. He wrote songs you know like "Daydream Believer" for The Monkees and "Runaway train" for Roseanne Cash.

The big song, his ticket to stardom, seemed to elude him. So what do you do? You sign with the Bee Gees label, you write a song about the music industry, you get Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham to sing background vocals in a very prominent way and BLAMMO, you have a number five smash on your hands in the spring of 1979.
