Media Reacts to Texas Teacher’s Sex Crimes Slap-on-Wrist Sentence
Some pundits in the media are getting downright snarky over the sentencing of former Austin-Westlake teacher Haeli Noelle Wey. The 28-year-old was convicted of felony counts after two 17-year-old boys came forward saying they had sexual relations with the former educator.
"High School Math Teacher Gets Probation For Traumatizing Male Teens With A Bunch Of Sex," read the headline atop the post in Tucker Carlson's Daily Caller blog. While most accounts of the saga between Wey and her students are matter of fact - those darned journalistic codes of conduct - the Daily Caller presented the events as if it were some kind of soap opera. If you want all the lurid details, that's where you've got to go.
Back in February, some local media were screaming about the leniency of the potential sentence against the ex-teacher. She won't be required to register as a sex offender.
