Food Bank In Temple to Distribute Boxes This Saturday
The Central Texas Food Bank will be in Temple Saturday, May 23rd to pass out food to those in need due to the COVID-19 crisis.
The Temple Daily Telegram's Janice Gibbs reports that the Food Bank will be passing out food to those in need from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Temple College, 2600 South First St.
During the drive-through food drive, volunteers will be passing out a box of food containing shelf items such as peanut butter, canned tuna, and canned fruit. Those in need will also receive frozen food items or produce.
Those picking up food items can only do so in their cars. You are not allowed to walk up to the event due to COVID-19 safety precautions. The food bank is also asking only one person per household come to the event to pick up items. The food will be loaded into the trunk of your car, so make sure you have room for the items to fit.
Quantities will be limited, and they are asking that only those in serious need attend the the food drive.
The food bank is also in need of volunteers. If you would like to help, find out more here.
The Central Texas Food Bank does incredible work to help our friends and neighbors year-round, and they've continued that work throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Much of the aid they deliver goes to veterans and seniors, and they could always use more volunteers to help them accomplish that mission. Donations are also welcome if you want to get involved, but aren't able to volunteer.
