Check Out This Weird Update to the Temple, Texas Beef Bandit Case

I'm pretty new to Bell County, but I've tried to keep my eye on the news to get a feel for what life is like here. One of the weirdest news stories over the past few months came out of Temple, Texas - the case of the brazen beef bandits. Well, there's been a development.

For those unaware, two females, LaTonya Thomas and Marchea Latonya, were spotted outside a H-E-B (allegedly) trying to steal meat from the establishment. The video itself went viral, and the women in question were the talk of the town.

While many wondered how the women could even escape police custody, one of the bandits was arrested already in April. The location of the second accomplice remained unknown until recently. Now it's been revealed the second person involved was taken into custody in May. That's right - she was taken into custody way back in may. What the heck?

KWTX has reported that LaTonya Thomas, the week after her fellow bandit was arrested, gave herself up to authorities on the 19th of May. So this story has reached its conclusion. (Well, until everyone has their day in court.) But questions still remain, at least for me.

The main one being, why $2,000 of just beef? Are meat prices at an all-time high these days? To be real, I haven't really bought ground beef or steaks recently, so maybe things have gotten more dire for the meat market in general.

But also, did they really think they could've gotten away with this? As previously mentioned, they were caught on video. We also must give huge kudos to the one worker trying to stop the theft from going down.

I haven't seen if they name the woman who continuously fought to try and keep the products at H-E-B. But one thing is for sure, she definitely deserves some sort of commendation and maybe a raise.

Well, as the old saying goes, crime doesn't pay.
