Waco’s Elite Cafe Gets Historic Landmark

I'm sure the new owners, Chip & Joanna Gaines, were happy about this.

KWTX reports that the Waco City Council voted unanimous approval of an ordinance designating the former Elite Cafe an historic landmark.

Chip & Joanna Gaines of 'Fixer Upper' fame bought the cafe after it closed back in February of 2016. They plan on opening up a restaurant called Magnolia Table at the end of this year, and it should come as no surprise that they are currently renovating the building.

In light of the designation, the Gaines duo have been working with the city council to ensure that renovations are in line with historical landmark guidelines.
