Waco Animal Shelter Finishes 2017 with 94% ‘No-Kill’ Status
Congrats to the Humane Society of Central Texas! Their Waco animal shelter finished the 2017 year with a 'live-exit' rate of 94.54% according to our new partners at KWTX.
5,798 animals came into the Waco shelter in the past year and only 598 had to be euthanized. Officials with the Humane Society of Central Texas told KWTX that when they began their partnership with the city of Waco the 'live-exit' rate was about 30%. What an amazing turnaround!
It's the second year the Waco shelter reached 'No-kill' status. 'No-kill' is the national recognition given to a shelter with a live-exit rate over 90%. You can help them continue their success by volunteering. The shelter is always looking for pet sponsors and volunteers. You can reach the Humane Society of Central Texas here.
