Venom, which is apparently a real movie with a real cast of real people, has officially started production this week. On Monday night, the movie’s official Twitter account shared the first photo from the set, featuring Tom Hardy, who’s been cast as Venom, a.k.a. Eddie Brock, having a laugh with a couple other guys in what looks like the set of an apartment.

Check out Venom’s photo proof below:

Well, the movie has an official Twitter account, which should remove all doubt about its existence, but I dunno if I’ll believe it’s real until I’m seated in the 4DX theater with my 3D glasses pushed up on top of my real ones. Not much can be deduced from the photo except that Tom Hardy (or a Tom Hardy lookalike) is in it — we can’t even tell if those clothes are a costume or just his.

Venom also has the most charmingly baffling cast we’ve seen in a superhero thus far: Michelle Williams, Riz Ahmed, Jenny Slate, and Veep’s Reid Scott have been added to the cast list over the past few weeks. One thing most of these actors have in common is that they’re all funny. Is Venom going to be a comedy? How?? He’s a terrifying Spider-Man villain with a tongue way too long for his body! Actually… that is kinda funny.

For all intents and purposes, as each day goes by Venom is looking more like a real movie and less like a massive prank. Whatever it is will hit theaters October 5, 2018.
