Oh geez, seems that 2015 is the year of letting go of things you'd thought would be around a little longer. Letterman, Colbert, my hair. All gone. And now...this. You accept these things and you move on the best you can. Then, yesterday, almost accidentally, another ship revealed itself ready to depart. Jon Stewart, host of The Daily Show, dropped the bomb.

Over on the show The Walking Dead, the joke is that everytime a character becomes that show's moral compass, they die. And that's what I think is happening here. We live in a time of opinions and agendas, pulling you and me in every conceivable direction. And since 1999, Jonathan Stuart Leibowitz has been that beacon, cutting a clear, sarcastic light through the brain fog of the Aughts. He took on all political sides with a funny, sometimes weary, sometimes goonball kid in the back of the class vibe. He was the kid who lobbed the spitball at the authorities figures, tearing down their carefully constructed facades to reveal what they really were: children in suits who will deceive and lie and cheat and steal anything and everything to get what they want.

And his creditability was unassailable, despite the occasional $#@! joke.

While sad for the imminent loss, I do wish the man well in his future endeavors. Hopefully it's more writing, directing or a different type of television show. or maybe even a run for political office. Hopefully though, it won't be in the movies. please, no.

P.S: Speaking of politics, did you know that one guy in Aerosmith is a Republican?
