Mother's Day was Sunday, and when it comes to celebrating our mamas, Texans apparently do it bigger and better. That's according to a report from KRIS-TV based on geotagged Twitter data.

Using geotagged Twitter data collected in the last week, Texas topped the list of states most likely to post positive things about mothers and what they do leading up to and on Mother's Day.

Using Tweets, hashtags, and direct keyword phrases related to Mother's Day, a map was created to show which states posted the most about their moms. The hashtags #mothersday, #motherdaygift, #mothersday2021, #LoveMyMom, #happymothersday, "I love my mom," "mom is the best," and many more were shared.

According to Statista, Americans were projected to spend about 28 billion dollars on Mother's Day. After seeing the long lines at flower shops and restaurants Sunday, I believe it!
My mother is no longer with us, but I think about her every day and especially on Mother's Day.
I do have a mother-in-law who has accepted me as her son and makes me feel like I am part of their family. I'm definitely blessed there.
Now, I don't know if she wanted any presents or anything for Mother's Day, but being the Mom of seven kids I'm pretty sure they showered her with some form of gifts
With my wife being a first-time mother, I do my best to support her and help her with raising our almost two-year-old son.
So this Mother's Day, I really tried to do some things special and buy her gifts to let her know how much I appreciate what she's doing for our family. It's not just about what you buy for mom or the mother in your life, but showing that you're thinking of them and want to celebrate their accomplishments and all they've done to make your life better.
When it comes to show moms how much we love them, the data shows Texas came out on top, and we're among good company.
Here are the top 10 Mother's Day states:
  1. Texas
  2. Oklahoma
  3. Tennessee
  4. Indiana
  5. Missouri
  6. Georgia
  7. Iowa
  8. Hawaii
  9. Minnesota
  10. Ohio

To all the mothers out there, thank you! We hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day.
