The Temple Animal Shelter is offering free animal adoptions at the Clear the Shelter event this Saturday, August 27 from noon until 4 pm in Temple, Texas.

Clear the Shelter Event

Clear the Shelter is an annual campaign to save shelter animals across the country. Participating shelters are all waiving adoption fees on Saturday, August 27, and some are waiving fees throughout the month, however, other fees may apply.

Things to Know Before Adopting a Pet

There are several things to consider before bringing a new pet into your home. For instance, you need to make sure you have the space for an animal at your house or apartment. Will your pet have a place to eat, sleep, and go to the bathroom comfortably?

If you're renting your home, you should also check on any restrictions your landlord has about owning pets. You can take this quiz to see if you're ready to adopt a pet.

Clear the Shelter Requirements

If you're interested in adopting, you must bring your ID with your current address, or a utility bill with the correct address in addition to your ID.

Everyone is welcome to meet adoptable animals before the event during regular business hours, and appointments are not required. The Temple Animal Shelter is open from 10 am to 4 pm Monday through Friday, and noon to 4 pm on Saturdays. The City of Temple Animal Shelter is located at 620 Mama Dog Circle in Temple.

Adoptable animals are listed on templetx.gov/animalshelter.
