Temple Police Investigating Two Monday Morning Home Invasions
Police are investigating two violent home invasions that occurred in Temple early Monday morning.
Jamie Kennedy and Stephen Adams with KCEN-TV report that police were called to the 1300 block of North 12th Street in response to a break-in. The victim told officers two men wearing hoodies forced their way through the back door of her home and demanded money and keys to a car parked outside. When the woman said she didn't have money and she didn't have the keys because the car was not hers, the suspects fled. The victim could not be sure if the suspects had a gun.
According to Kennedy and Adams' report, the second incident occurred in the 900 block of South 33rd Street shortly before 5 AM. The victim reported that he and his son fled their home after two burglars broke in. As they were seeking help, shots were fired, striking another home nearby. A resident of the other home told police the bullets almost struck a sleeping child.
Temple Police Department Spokeswoman Shawana Neely told Kennedy and Adams it was too early in the investigation to determine if the two incidents were related.
