Temple police gave the all-clear at Temple Mall Monday evening after a report of a man in dark clothing wearing a threatening note.

Temple PD spokesman Cody Weems reported that the building was safe shortly before 6:30 PM.

Weems told us that at about 4:45 PM, a call came in about a suspicious man entering the mall in black clothing with a note taped to his arm. Weems could not confirm what was written on the note, but said police did not feel the need to evacuate the mall.

Temple PD spokeswoman Ellen Morton said police were not locking down or evacuating the mall, but they were keeping people from going inside while officers worked to ensure everyone's safety.

Police, fire, and EMS vehicles were beginning to leave the mall around 6:25 PM.
When asked if the suspect had been located or spotted, Weems said he could not confirm that, but offered this description of the man: a black male wearing a black shirt and black pants around 5'8".

We'll bring you more information once it becomes available.
