Earlier this month, Killeen ISD issued a parental survey to gauge how families feel about students returning to school in the fall given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

Now, Temple ISD officials want to know what Wildcat parents think.

The district has released a 17-question survey seeking feedback from families about the district's handling of the COVID-19 situation, remote learning options, and safety concerns.

District officials want to know if parents feel comfortable sending children back to campuses, and what they think about safety measures such as requiring masks, checking temperatures at campus entryways, making hand sanitizer available, alerting parents to new cases of COVID-19 among students and staff, or even shutting down schools for up to two weeks in the event someone on campus is diagnosed with the virus.

A link to the survey was scheduled to be sent to Temple ISD families, and it's also available to fill out on the district's website.

In a video address posted to Temple ISD's Facebook page, TISD Chief of Communications Christine Parks said the district does not yet know what the 2020-2021 school year plans will look like, since much of it will depend on the COVID-19 situation in Central Texas.

"As a district, we continue to monitor COVID-19 and seek guidance from the Texas Education Agency and our local health authorities as we examine multiple options for the start of school in August," Parks said.

The survey is open now through July 5th. Responses are submitted anonymously.

Parks said families will be provided with detailed plans after their feedback has been taken into consideration and plans are finalized.
