Salmonella Symptoms

Salmonella can cause fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. It can be serious and sometimes fatal to children, the elderly, and people with compromised immune systems. Usually people who get Salmonella develop symptoms between six hours to six days after being exposed. Most healthy people recover within a week or less without medical treatment.

The CDC estimates around 1.3 million Americans a year are affected by salmonella. Over 26,000 of those infected require hospital treatment, and more than 400 people die as a result of the bacteria.
