UPDATE: False alarm! KXAN reports that an object resembling a pipe bomb found inside a home in Round Rock was not explosive.

The object was reported by a property manager who was clearing out a recently vacated home. Police say the manager found ammunition and bomb-making manuals in the home, which prompted his concerns.

Although the pipe did  not contain explosives, a bomb squad destroyed it in a controlled detonation.

An Austin bomb squad and FBI agents were investigating a suspicious item that may be an explosive device in Round Rock Monday afternoon.

KTBC-TV reports that the device was found in the 400 block of Hillside Drive. The area had reportedly been secured, and neighbors had been made aware of the investigation.

A KTBC reporter was live streaming on Facebook from the scene of the investigation. That video can be seen below. The reporter said officials had not confirmed that the device is incendiary, and more information is pending.

We'll update this post as more information becomes available.

The news comes a little over three months after a series of random bombings in the Austin area carried out by 23-year-old Mark Anthony Conditt of Pflugerville between March 2 and 20. Conditt was fatally wounded by one of his own devices while being confronted by police.
