The search is still on.

Growing up in the 70s, safety was never an issue. It's not that there weren't dangers out there, we just didn't think to protect ourselves. I remember playing on highways as a kid. Even walking or riding our bikes along them. I don't even think they had reflective vests at the time. Nowadays, I can't even imagine walking anywhere with one simply because of the cell phone distraction that people have these days.

KWTX is reporting that the McGregor police are still looking for the driver who hit and killed Kayn Kemp, 26.

He was killed Thursday night as he walked to work at the 2100 block of South State Highway 317.

Kemp's wife, Cayla, said that her husband worked at Ferguson Enterprises. She received a text from one of the other employees saying that Kayn had not arrived to work and was missing. She and other employees called the police and they started looking for him.

Officers found Kayn Kemp on the side of the road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a news release, Lt. Ron Curry said that they believe the driver of a 2005-08 white F-150 was driving northbound and swerved into the shoulder hitting Kemp. The truck would likely have damage to the right front portion of it.

Anyone with information is asked to call McGregor police at 254-840-2855.
