Multiple Fire Departments Respond to Lacy Lakeview House Fire

A Lacy Lakeview house fire required a team effort Wednesday morning.

Christy Soto with our news partner, KWTX-TV, reports that fire crews from Lacy Lakeview, Bellmead, and Waco were called to a home on Elling Street shortly before 8 AM. When they arrived, they observed thick black smoke issuing from the roof of the house.

Fortunately, no injuries were reported. It wasn't immediately clear how much damage the home sustained as a result of the fire, and the cause remained under investigation late Wednesday morning.

Daylight Saving Time begins at 2 AM Sunday, March 10. Time changes in spring and fall are good times to go around the house and inspect your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.

According to experts, three out of five home fire deaths resulted from fires in structures with no working smoke alarms. Make sure you refresh the batteries in yours and test them to ensure your family's safety as you "spring forward" for DST.
