Sunday was a scary day. Storms blasted through the area heading east. If you live in Killeen, it seems you were in even more danger than you thought.

To avoid paying overtime to the people who are there to protect and serve the community, Killeen scaled down some emergency services.

According to Facebook, two ladder trucks, and a rescue truck, had reduced staff. Plus, an ambulance was placed out of service on the North side of Killeen. All to avoid paying overtime.

If you can think of someone else who deserves overtime more that the people hired to save lives, feel free to speak up. If things are this tough for the city right now, you might want to think about jacking up the city sales tax a couple of cents on the dollar. Or, do what the greedy owners of radio stations do. Make employees write down their duties, and if it looks like you're paying people to do little to nothing, cut that salary and give the money to the people who deserve it.

If you have an issue of the city shutting down emergency services on the same day as a thunderstorm event, then do as the Facebook post suggests and contact some of the people on that list.
