At the 28 minute mark of the video above readers can find a news conference with Ventura County Sherriff Geoff Dean and the FBI's Ryan Young. They go on to say a tragic shooting occurred late last night at a country bar (Borderline Bar & Grill) in a community known as 1000 Oaks (about 40 miles West of Los Angeles).

At the last update, 13 people are dead including a sheriff's sergeant along with the gunman. The officer killed was named Ron Helus. Helus responded to the gunfire and was shot when he entered the bar. He later died at the hospital. The latest report does not indicate exactly how the gunman died.

Our partners at KWTX report that Sheriff Dean says around 10 other people were shot and wounded. Reports indicate that gunfire began around 11:20 pm last night. It was "College Country Night" at the bar and police said hundreds of people were inside.
