I know a lot of people around here from Chicago. So that might be the reason Killeen is closing down a lane starting Tuesday.

You might be asking how in the hell does a lane closing down in Killeen have anything to do with people from Chicago. Well maybe we should ask Mrs. O'Leary's cow.

The Great Chicago Fire burned for days in October, 1871. It ended up killing around 300 people and caused an estimated $200 million in damages. All because of dry weather and, allegedly, a cow with restless leg disease.

It's because of this that the City of Killeen will be closing down the westbound lane of Little Nolan Road starting Tuesday. You see, they're installing a fire hydrant. It's good to be safe in case there's some mad cows roaming the streets with bad intentions and matches.

No really, the city is installing a fire hydrant so they'll be shutting down the westbound lane on Little Nolan Road between Cunningham Road and Saul Drive tomorrow and Wednesday from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. The eastbound lane will remain open to through traffic.

Traffic will be detoured during work hours, and motorists are asked to use caution and obey traffic control devices and workers. Alternate routes are advised.

The City of Killeen apologizes for any inconvenience as a result of this work and appreciates your cooperation.

The rumour of former Walmart greeters with cattle prods walking the street during this time is just simply ridiculous and you shouldn't believe everything you read.
