This Texas University Will Be Racing in Final NASCAR Races for 2024
NASCAR's had a long illustrious history with Texas & racing, and that includes some of our local colleges & universities. This year we will see one Texas college do something special as the 2024 NASCAR season is winding down.
Expect to see some special Texas A&M NASCAR race cars in Phoenix & in Las Vegas
It was announced this week on Monday that Texas A&M University has partnered with Stewart-Haas Racing to race two cars in 2024; they plan on having Chase Briscoe drive the #14 Texas A&M Ford Mustang at the South Point 400 race on Sunday in Vegas. Someone on Reddit even posted an image in the garage after the announcement of made.
They will also one more special car race at the season finale race in Phoenix, Arizona on November 10; Josh Berry will drive the #4 Texas A&M Ford Mustang.
Both of these cars will race, not just for Texas A&M to show off their school spirit, but as R. Ethan Braden, the vice president of Texas A&M says, they want to "showcase Texas A&M’s appreciation for our country and our military prior to Veterans Day."
This will also be the final race for Stewart-Haas Racing, as they made the decision to close down at the end of the 2024 season. What a huge send off for the team; to go out strong with saying "thank you" not only to the fans & to our military veterans...
This was not the first time we've seen Texas A&M race in NASCAR; over a decade ago, they sponsored Jeff Gordon's iconic #24 Chevrolet during the 2014 Duck Commander 500 at their home track; Texas Motor Speedway. He would claim 2nd place in the race; certainly not a bad finish. Perhaps Josh or Chase would be able to bring home the victory for the Texas A&M car over the next few weeks...
Texas A&M is also not the only Texas college to have raced in NASCAR; there have been several others that were seen on the racetrack that you can read about here.
