Christine Paige Cockrell, an earth science teacher at Gatesville Junior High is alleged to have sent indecent and received indecent photos to an unnamed 15 year old student. Here's what is known at the time of writing.

Early Details Of The Case

According to KWTX, the case began on April 11th. The news organization reports that Gatesville Independent School District were alerted to, at the the time of writing, unidentified student receiving illicit photos a teacher. That teacher was alleged to be Christine Paige Cockrell.

When talking to investigators, the student stated that October of 2023 is when contact between them and Cockrell began. Per the complaint, Cockrell “sent nude photographs of her breasts and asked (the victim) for nude photographs of himself.”

Further details from the complaint reveal that when school questioned Cockrell, she confirmed that she did contact students through Instagram, but she did not remember if she sent the explicit photos. Instagram was also confirmed as the method of contact between the unnamed 15 year old and Cockrell.

Cockrell's Other Alleged Actions With Students

Cockrell, when talking to law enforcement, was alleged to have said that a former student in Ohio made an indecent request to have sex with her. After police reached out to the former student, it was discovered that Cockrell contacted the student after their 17th birthday, calling them "cute."

Additionally, it is alleged that when the student said they were in high school, Cockrell sent a reply message that said "no one has to know.”

Cockrell's Arrest

Cockrell was officially taken into custody on May 3rd, 2024, after two warrants were released the previous day on May 2nd, both for  improper relationship between educator and student.

Cockrell, following being taken into custody, was put on administrative leave by Gatesville ISD, and then resigned from her position. As this is a a developing story, we will have more information when it becomes available.
