Local State Of Emergency Declared In Killeen, Texas For Solar Eclipse

The total solar eclipse is almost here in Killeen, Texas, which is hard to believe isn't it?

As the moment continues to draw closer and closer, everyone is getting the supplies needed for the day. Certain foods are in shorter supply, and it certainly feels like there's more cars on the roadway doesn't it? Long story short, it feels like we've all got a headache doesn't it?

But it's not just us feeling the stress over the eclipse event. Certain cities across the state are struggling with the amount of growth over a short period of time. Especially ones that will spend to most time in totality.

Killeen has recently taken steps to ensure residents and visitors will be safe and sound during the event.

Local State Of Emergency Declared In Killeen For Eclipse

FOX 44 reports the declaration was issued to help with a major part of city. Mainly, it was to initialize disaster response teams. While this may worry some or make them uneasy, the Mayor of Killeen, Debbie Nash-King, states that is not the intention.

FOX 44 also reports that Nash-King reminded residents of Killeen to be smart and aware during the event, and be mindful of any emergencies should they happen. FOX 44 also stated that Killeen's population could potentially double from visitors coming to the city for the moment.

In addition to the local state of emergency, schools in Killeen, as well as Belton and Temple, will be closed on the day of eclipse. Bell County Judge David Blackburn also has suggested workers in the area to stay home due to the amount of people coming.
