Car Stolen by Teen in Austin Crashes in Killeen, Texas

(Killeen, Texas): Details have been revealed regarding a car chase in Central Texas that took place on the morning of October 12th, 2023 and ended with a crash in Killeen. Here's what we know.

The Car Chase That Began In Austin, Texas

According to the Killeen Daily Herald, Officers in Travis County were making an effort to stop a 2018 Kia. The vehicle had been reported stolen. The driver, an unidentified 15 year old, fled from law enforcement.

The chase, after starting in Travis County, continued into Bell County. For 70 miles, the driver avoided police, via Interstate 35, and also came into contact with three DPS vehicles during his attempt to flee.

However, the chase ended when the driver of the 2018 Kia wrecked by running into the O' Reilly Auto Parts located at the 1100 block of West Veterans Memorial Boulevard. After taking the driver into custody, he was transported to a health facility to be examined for any injuries.

Following the check-up, the 15 year old was taken to the juvenile detention center in Killeen. The Killeen Daily Herald stated that the report revealed that DPS officers were not harmed during the chase.

The Business Affected By The Driver Hitting The Store

Owner Ellis Thomas was alerted to the car colliding with his store at 3 AM Thursday morning. A 9-1-1 Bell County Operator alerted him to the accident, and requesting a key-holder to go to the store.

Other than damage to the brick wall, no one was harmed inside the store, and no other parts of the building were affected.
