After almost 6 months since the murder of Clint Demetri Jones in Killeen, Texas on Christmas Eve of 2022, Bell County Jail has an indicted suspect in custody. The suspect is 29 year old Demetrius Isaiah Patterson who was just extradited from Rockdale, Georgia where he was being held on an unrelated charge of Aggravated Assault.

Since this is an ongoing investigation, limited information is available as police continue to follow the case. What we do know is Jones was 35 and from Harker Heights when he was gunned down a little after 2 am on the morning of Christmas Eve last year around the 3300 block of Hereford Lane.

Police arrived quickly after a 911 call, and found Jones unresponsive. Life saving measures were attempted, but sadly Jones was pronounced dead at the scene a little before 3 AM by Justice of the Peace, Cliff Coleman. At the time of his murder, there had been 22 in Killeen in 2022.

Why did it take almost 6 months to get an indictment?

Some of that can probably be answered by the fact that Patterson had been out of the area for at least some time. Again, he was only extradited from Georgia where he was being held for felony charges from actions that most likely occurred in Georgia.
