Belton, Texas Lake Overlook Closed Forever And Will Never Reopen
Many in Belton, Texas love to look out over the Belton Lake.
There's something rather enjoyable about when the weather is just right, and the sounds of water calming somebody after a long day isn't there? For many, it's a time to sit back and relax. We all get stressed sometimes after all right?
Some in Central Texas would travel out to the Belton lake overlook to take in the sights the body of water brought. But in April of 2022, the area was closed and placed off-limits. According to KWTX, the reasoning was public safety.
For those looking forward to the area reopening, unfortunately that day will not come after a recent announcement from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Belton Overlook Closed For Good
A press release from the the U.S Army Corps of Engineers revealed the reasoning. According to the release, TxDOT was contacted to assist in making the area safer for everyone. Eventually, the decision was made to close the area all together.
While some will be understandably be sad that the area will not reopen after a two year closure, there still are options for those to look out over the water. U.S Army Corps of Engineers revealed in the release that another overlook, Belton Lakeview Park is available to those who wish to see the lake from above.
