Texans Are Warned About Deadly Creepy Critters Invading
It's not uncommon to encounter fascinating creatures and wildlife in Texas, yet I must admit that I've never been particularly fond of the creepy crawly ones in our great state.
TEXAS ARE WARNED ABOUT A DEADLY CRITTER TRYING TO INVADE
While Texas is home to mountain lions, wild boars, and some of the most venomous snakes, CBS News reports that officials are warning residents here in Texas about a much smaller but deadly threat. Despite its menacing nickname, "Maneater," the New World screwworm isn’t particularly fearsome in appearance. But looks can be deceiving especially is in this particular situation.
HERE ARE THE SYMPTOMS YOU SHOULD LOOK FOR TO SEE IF YOU HAVE BEEN INFECTED
However, it is a highly dangerous parasitic fly that infests and attacks living tissue in mammals and birds, including humans. If infestations from a screwworm are left untreated, they can be lethal. It was stated that the Texas park and wildlife department reported female New World screwworm flies are drawn to an older wounded and natural opening on live warm-blooded animals. To make matters worse if one fly can lay 300 eggs at a time five may have 3000 eggs during her lifetimeSymptoms to watch for include unexplained lesions, wounds and sores that haven't healed, worsening skin conditions, painful sores, bleeding from open wounds, a feeling of movement under your skin or in sores, and the presence of maggots in or around open sores. Texans are urged to take these warnings very seriously.
