How Fort Hood Serves as an Anchor for Central Texas Real Estate and Commerce
If you live in the Central Texas area, you know that Fort Hood is considered a cornerstone of the community. It's something people talk about often. According to the Fort Hood Sentinel, a recent report from the Texas Comptroller detailed the installation's nearly $38 billion contribution to the Texas economy in 2025. That report really showed just how much of an impact Fort Hood has beyond the installation's gates.

How Does Fort Hood Play Such A Big Part In Central Texas?
It goes to show that Fort Hood should be considered one of the biggest economic engines in Central Texas. In my opinion, it has created thousands of jobs while bringing billions of dollars into the state. Not only does it support the military's mission, but it also helps communities throughout Bell and Coryell counties through everyday spending and partnerships with local governments.
The Surprising Ripple Effect of Fort Hood Spending Across Texas Communities
More than 100,000 people depend on the base for employment in one way or another, including active-duty service members, civilian employees, contractors, and people whose jobs exist because of the military installation. Military families and soldiers spend money at local businesses, buy homes, rent apartments, eat at restaurants, shop in stores, and use local services. That spending helps businesses grow and creates even more jobs throughout the region.
Fort Hood Is More Than Just a Base For Soldiers
In my opinion, when you think about Fort Hood, you can't just think about the soldiers protecting our country. You also have to recognize the role the installation plays in strengthening the Central Texas economy by creating jobs, supporting local businesses, and contributing nearly $38 billion to the Texas economy each year.
