For those who love to look into the night sky and study what is overhead, you'll like the news we have to share here.

A micromoon will be overhead this weekend, and if you have the right tools, you may notice a smaller and dimmer moon overhead.

The micromoon will be visible for those looking this Saturday night, April 12, 2025. The change in size and illumination of the moon will be subtle; thus, if you have a telescope, you should consider using it to your advantage.

This astronomical phenomenon happens when the moon is furthest away from the Earth, in contrast to the Supermoon when it's closest to the planet.

Another micromoon is on tap for May. Three supermoons will be visible this year in October, November, and December.

So, if you or the kids enjoy looking into the night sky, put the reminder in your phone to get outdoors this Saturday night and attempt to witness the micromoon.

Supermoons and micromoons are a lot more common than some think, as they occur a few times each year.
