(Mix 93-1)  When it comes to feeding a baby, parents rely on the fact that the food they purchase for their child is going to be safe and allow them to grow up strong and healthy.

That is not the case for this baby food brand sold at Target stores nationwide.

Target has issued a recall for more than 25,000 containers of baby food

The affected product is marketed under the Target brand 'Good & Gather'.

Target has removed the Good & Gather Baby Pea, Zucchini, Kale & Thyme Vegetable Puree, sold in 4-ounce tubs, from all store shelves. This recall is being conducted because the containers may contain elevated levels of lead.

While the product is no longer for sale in the stores, parents are urged to check their pantry for this particular product. Products affected by the recall will have either one of these lot codes:

  • Lot Number 4169 has a best-by date of Dec. 9, 2025
  • Lot Number 4167 has a best-by date of Dec. 7, 2025

While a specific recall has not been issued by the Food And Drug Administration (FDA), they did publish a notice on this product.

This is a Class II recall, according to the Associated Press (AP), which means the product has the potential to cause temporary or reversible problems and is unlikely to cause serious harm.

If this is in your home parents, you should discard this product immediately and not feed it to your baby. Exposure to this heavy metal can cause developmental and cognitive problems in your child. According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), there is no safe level of exposure to lead for children.
