Why Ignoring School Zones Could Cost You More Than Money
(Tyler, Texas) It still blows my mind to this day that when drivers are behind a GIGANTIC yellow school bus that has its red flashers and two stop signs deployed from the driver's side of the bus, they think it's ok to go around and pass the bus.
Those people need to go back to driver's ed and refresh themselves on the laws about school buses and when they can and cannot pass a bus or have to stop.
Why Stopping for School Buses Saves Lives
This behavior is very dangerous. Those inattentive drivers could kill or seriously injure a child just trying to get to or from school.

Understanding School Zone Speed Limits
It's not just school buses, but school zones too. School zones are marked by white signs with a speed limit, along with the words SCHOOL ZONE in black letters on a yellow background. Oftentimes, those signs are accompanied by yellow flashing beacon lights to warn drivers they are in a school zone and students could be present.
Those signs and blinking lights are there as a safety reminder and should not be disregarded. Doing so could lead to a hefty fine from your local law enforcement.

Simple Rules Every Driver Should Follow
There are ways to avoid hefty fines from speeding in a school zone or passing a school bus with its red lights flashing and stop signs displayed, DO THE SPEED LIMIT, STOP ON FLASHING RED LIGHTS, and DON'T pass the bus. It's that simple, people.
The fines just aren't worth it; your bank account will appreciate it, and children in the school zones, on the bus, and in crosswalks will appreciate you being more attentive when driving through these special zones.
