You Thought It Was Illegal in Texas? Think Again
(Mix 93-1) For the most part, Texans know wrong from right. We know when we've broken the law, and if we're caught, we must suffer the consequences.
However, have you done something that felt a little questionable and immediately afterwards thought, "Is what I just did legal in Texas?"
I'm sure we've all had that feeling at some point, especially while driving. How many times have you pulled into the center turn lane only to merge into traffic on the right side of your vehicle? Well, technically, that is against the law.
Or how many times have you picked flowers from the side of the road? Was that lawful to do? Or how about not picking up after your dog after it poops in the park or other public area?

Now you know where I'm going here. There are a lot of questionable things out there that feel incorrect, but in all actuality, they are quite legal to do. Like having a drink in Texas and carrying a firearm under certain conditions.
Why do things like this feel weird and unlawful when they're not?
It all comes down to state and local laws and ordinances. What may be true in Texas isn't true in Missouri or New Hampshire. Or what is legal to do in Longview may not be legal in Austin because of local ordinances.
So the question of legality gets extra confusing, especially when you travel to other parts of the country and world, and when they visit our little piece of paradise.

Growing up, I learned that some of the things in the gallery below were illegal to own or do, and I took it as truth. However, after a little aging, some wisdom, and some assistance from Google and Chat GPT, we got some clarification and understanding that some of these things are perfectly legal to do.
Check it out, the following activities seem to be illegal and may make you feel guilty, but they are actually legal to do, for the most part. You'll want to check your local ordinances just to clarify.
