They say everything is bigger in Texas, and that includes some of the state's newest residents. From record-setting weights to unbelievable lengths, the Lone Star State offers up some of the biggest newborns around.

It all started when I spotted an article from CBS News about a baby weighing in at 16 pounds. That is almost double the weight of a normal-sized baby. As my research progressed it turned up other babies tipping the scale. Scroll with me and let's take a look at three big bundles of joy.

First up is JaMichael Brown, born in Longview in 2011. He was born a whopping 16 pounds, 1 ounce, JaMichael made national headlines as one of the biggest babies delivered in recent years. His mother, Janet Johnson, was just as surprised as the hospital staff and said that delivering a baby this size was like handling a small toddler.

Next, there's Addyson Gale Cessna, who weighed in at 14 pounds, 12 ounces when she made her grand entrance in 2013. Born in Burleson, her size was so remarkable that she instantly became a local celebrity. Addyson's size was attributed to her mother's diabetes, which can cause babies to grow larger than average.

Rounding things out is Ali Medlock, who was born in Arlington in 2018, weighing an impressive 14 pounds, 13 ounces. Ali's parents were overjoyed and overwhelmed by his size, joking that they might need bigger clothes and a new crib sooner than planned.
