When you're in Texas, there's no pitstop like a Buc-ee's pitstop. They're taking the state by storm and folks can't seem to get enough. Tired travelers search miles for the sight of that cartoon beaver mascot. I have friends who could spend hours in a Buc-ee's if you let them. I call it the Disneyworld of convenience stores.

There's a certain magic to Buc-ee's. Once you visit, nothing else will compare. For example, Buc-ee's location in New Braunfels holds the world record for the largest convenience store. It's an impressive 66,335 square feet. Holy cow. It also holds the world record for the longest car wash with a 255-foot conveyor. Now, that's Texas-sized.

For me, it's what is on the inside that matters. What is it that keeps folks from all over coming back for more? What's the magic here? According to Southern Living, Buc-ee's has some downhome southern items that are a must-not-miss on your next stop. Beaver Nuggets

Buttery, delicious puffs of perfection. Beaver nuggets are the most popular road snack you'll find. I always grab an extra bag. A fan favorite here.

Barbeque

Appetites build when you travel, so thank goodness for the BBQ counter at Buc-ee's. All the good stuff like brisket, turkey, and sausage, plus the trimmings. It's great to grab on the go.

Homemade Fudge

Just like grandma used to make. I tell you, it melts in your mouth. Take advantage of the variety.

Kolaches

This classic is a must in Texas. Delicious sausage surrounded by dough and stuffed with cheesy goodness. Say "yes" to the kolache.

Beef Jerky

To me, there's nothing - I mean nothing - that's better than beef jerky on a road trip. It's my absolute favorite and Buc-ee's has plenty to choose from.

Dr. Pepper Icee

These are something I shoot for every time. Anything Dr. Pepper usually gets a second look from a Texan, especially on hot summer road trips. These are, in a word, awesome.

When you're in Texas, there's a high chance you'll encounter deer, especially with a feeder in your yard. From what I hear, Buc-ee's prices and quality on feeders are great.

Pickles and More Pickles

At Buc-ee's you'll find an amazing array of pickled products. I saw a jar of pickled quail eggs on my last trip. I believe I'll pass on that particular item.

Bacon Grease Bucket

Nope, I'm not kidding. After all, bacon goes great with everything, and in Texas, it's got to be fried. Bon Appetit.
