Miller Park is always a great place to spend a Saturday, but it's even better when you have a fishing pole in your hand and some tasty fried fish on your plate.

If that sounds good to you, then you'll want to save the date for the Family Fish and Fry coming up Saturday, October 19. This free event is hosted by the Temple Police Department, Temple Fire and Rescue, and Texas Parks and Wildlife.

Fishing at the pond starts at 10 AM, and the fish fry starts at Noon.

If you don't have a pole, the hosts will provide one on a first come, first served basis.

Temple has so many beautiful parks, but Miller's always been my favorite. I think I'm just a sucker for the pond. Nothing beats a relaxing afternoon throwing seed to the ducks and watching the turtles and catfish swim around.

Maybe one day I'll get serious about getting in shape and use the awesome running trails they've got out there too. If I trail seed behind me, maybe the ducks will run with me. That'd make my year.
