Hey there, just saw that Tom Cruise time loop movie, Edge Of Tomorrow, and surprise really liked it. Smug robot though his reputation may lead him to be, you gotta admire his taste in projects of late. This one pulled from everything from Groundhog Day and Starship Troopers to every WW 2 spy ops movie ever and really pulled it off. So, here now are five other time flippity flop movies that aren't Back To The Future you might want to check out...

H.G. Wells jumps forward in time to the 1970's to chase after Jack The Ripper with the help of a young bank teller. It's a rip snorting good time with a layer of sociological comment in that Jack The Ripper feels more at home in our jacked up modern times.

From Wack-A-Doodle visionary Terry Gilliam a band of grotty not very nice llittle people and one lucky little boy skip through time, using a map swiped from the "Creator". Look for a thick vibe of Monty Python and, subtexted, this kid's search for a real family. Great stuff.

Richard Matheson is a name you should know. A major force for many years in speculative and fantasy fiction. He wrote a lot of stuff you love. Like this one, where a man, out of almost sheer will, slips back in time to find the love of his life. It's thickly romantic, the chicks dig it and the music seals the deal. Here's my favorite scene:

Here's an ingenious idea: in a non-specific future, bad guys sent their targets back in time where killers named "Loopers" do their dirty work. This is a great exploration of that premise, Emily Blunt from Edge Of Tomorrow is in it and hey look, Bruce Willis snaps out of his decades long zombie mode to turn in a really fantastic performance.

Time travelin' Jean Claude Van Damme is a Time Enforcement Commission  cop. Ron Silver eats every last little bit of scenery as an evil senator. Much wackiness ensues. Stuff blows up real good. Van Damme does some cool stunts, mangles the English language in new and creative ways fails to forward in time to present him from making Streetfighter. Also, Time Cop is one of his best movies. Go figure.
