Fisherman Discovers Dead Body in Lake Belton Saturday Morning

KWTX is reporting The Bell County Sheriff's Department is investigating the discovery of a dead body found at Lake Belton over the weekend.

Police said the victim had suffered a gunshot wound to the head. Authorities responded to a call Saturday morning that came from a fisherman who discovered the body near Sparta Valley Park at Lake Belton.

The fisherman said that the body was discovered in the water. The victim was pronounced dead just before 8:30 am Saturday by Justice of the Peace Ted Duffield. That person has not yet been identified. Officials have ordered an autopsy.
